Ice and rain protection (Air intakes)

The ice and rain protection prevents the formation of ice on the pitot tube for authorized flight regimes. It consists of the air intakes and the pitot heater.

Air intakes

The air intakes drain water from the inlet duct to prevent the formation of ice. It consists of the inlet duct water drain.

The inlet duct water drain prevents the accumulation of water that can freeze in the inlet duct. It consists of a rubber hose attached to a nipple under the inlet duct and to a nipple at the bottom of the nose cone with spring clamps made of corrosion resistant steel.

Operation

The water at the bottom of the inlet duct is drained through the nipple under the inlet duct and the rubber hose, and out the nipple at the bottom of the nose cone.
