Mounts and Attachments

The mounts and attachments structure attach the components of the main rotor drive system to the helicopter structure and attenuate the vibration and shock loads that are transferred from the main rotor to the helicopter structure.

The mounts and attachments system has the components that follow:

Restraint assembly

The restraint assembly connects the left and right stop mount assemblies to the truss assembly, at the rear of the transmission assembly. It decreases the movement of the transmission assembly through the use of elastomeric elements. Together with the stop mount assemblies, they also prevent too much movement from the transmission assembly if the elastomer separates. The restraint assembly includes the primary parts that follow:

  • Restraint cartridges

  • Clamp halves

  • Cross bar

  • Stop pins

The restraint is an assembly of two elastomeric cartridges bonded between stainless steel clamp halves. The clamp halves connect together through a stainless steel cross bar that is attached to the truss assembly. The left and right stop mount assemblies connect to the center sleeve of the cartridges. On each side of the restraint assembly, a stop pin made of an assembly of a spool and fasteners is installed though an opening in the stop mount assembly and attached to the clamp halves.

Left stop mount assembly

The left stop mount assembly is attached to the main case of the transmission assembly and connects to the cartridge of the restraint assembly on the left side. The left stop mount assembly is made of stainless steel. Together with the left stop pin of the restraint assembly, they also prevent too much movement from the transmission assembly if the elastomer of the cartridge separates.

Right stop mount assembly

The right stop mount assembly is attached to the main case of the transmission assembly and connects to the cartridge of the restraint assembly on the right side. The right stop mount assembly is made of stainless steel. Together with the right stop pin of the restraint assembly, they also prevent too much movement from the transmission assembly if the elastomer of the cartridge separates.
