Procedure

To remove the HRFM filter element, do as follows:

  1. Remove and discard the lockwire between the plug and the filter cap.

  2. Remove the plug from the filter cap.

  3. Remove and discard the packing from the plug.

  4. Remove and discard the lockwire between the filter cap and the filter bowl.

  5. Remove the sealant from the filter cap.

  6. Remove the filter cap from the filter bowl.

  7. Remove and discard the backup ring and the packing from the filter cap.

  8. With the filter in place, remove all hydraulic oil from the filter bowl with a clean Extraction syringe.

  9. Remove the HRFM filter element from the filter bowl.

  10. Visually examine the filter element for metal particles.

  11. Discard the filter element and the packing.

To install the HRFM filter element, do the steps that follow:

  1. Apply a layer of Hydraulic fluid to the Packing (MS28775-012).

  2. Install the Packing (MS28775-012) on the Filter element (QA07941).

  3. Install the Filter element (QA07941) in the filter bowl.

  4. Apply a layer of Hydraulic fluid to the Backup ring (M8791/1-026) and the Packing (M83461/1-026).

  5. Install the Backup ring (M8791/1-026) and the Packing (M83461/1-026) on the filter cap.

  6. Install the filter cap on the filter bowl.

  7. Torque the filter cap 186 to 204 inch-pounds (21.0 to 23.1 Nm).

  8. Apply a layer of Sealant around the filter cap to close the clearance between the filter cap and filter bowl.

  9. Safety the filter cap with Lockwire.

  10. Make sure that the level of hydraulic fluid is flush with the bottom of the filter cap. Fill the filter bowl with Hydraulic fluid, as necessary.

  11. Apply a layer of Hydraulic fluid to the Packing (M83461/2-902).

  12. Install the Packing (M83461/2-902) on the plug.

  13. Install the plug on the filter cap.

  14. Torque the plug 18 to 27 inch-pounds (2.0 to 3.1 Nm).

  15. Safety the plug with Lockwire.
