# Draining fluid from the hydraulic system

## Preliminary requirements

### Required Conditions

| Action/Condition                                          | Reference |
| --------------------------------------------------------- | --------- |
| Remove the right transmission fairing (432BR).            |           |
| Remove the upper-right mid-fuselage access panel (433BR). |           |

### Support equipment

| Name              | Identification/References | Quantity | Remark  |
| ----------------- | ------------------------- | -------- | ------- |
| Hand suction pump | Commercial                | 1        | For oil |

### Consumables, materials and expendables

| Name            | Identification/References | Quantity | Remark                       |
| --------------- | ------------------------- | -------- | ---------------------------- |
| Hydraulic fluid | C-072                     | AR       | As an alternative, use C-002 |

## Procedure

1. Open the filler cap from the Hydraulic Reservoir Filter Module (HRFM).

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Make sure that the support equipment is clean before you put it in the HRFM to prevent the contamination of the hydraulic fluid.**
{% endhint %}

2. To drain a small quantity of hydraulic fluid from the HRFM, do the steps that follow:
   1. Put the tube of the Hand suction pump (Commercial) in the opening of the HRFM.
   2. Drain the necessary quantity of hydraulic fluid from the HRFM into a small container.
3. To fully drain the hydraulic fluid from the HRFM, do the steps that follow:
   1. Put a container below the hydraulic pump to collect the hydraulic fluid.
   2. Disconnect the suction hose from the union fitting.
   3. Fully drain the hydraulic fluid.
   4. Apply a light layer of Hydraulic fluid (C-072) to the threads of the union fitting.
   5. Connect the suction hose to the union fitting.
   6. Torque the coupling nut of the suction hose 210 to 420 inch-pounds (24 to 47 Nm).
4. Close the filler cap on the HRFM.
5. Tighten the filler cap.
